Fall Changes

The Trudeau government is looking to make good on their campaign promises of making the immigration process quicker and less painless for prospective immigrants.  The minister of immigration, refugees and citizenship John McCallum revealed that the Canadian government is hoping to implement their new policies as early as the upcoming fall.  The governments initial focus is on reducing the time it currently takes to process a family class visa.  Currently, it can to upwards of two years for a family class visa to be processed, which the minister deemed as unacceptable.  Changes will also be coming to the skilled class, economic category, and visitors’ visa.  The minister also claimed that the government is currently working on policies to make it easier for international students to become permanent residents in Canada, as they are young, educated, and fluent in either English or French, which makes them prime candidates to continue to drive our labor market in Canada.
